In the wake of catastrophic flooding in Louisiana, Today’s Homeowner TV and Radio host, Danny Lipford, discusses the best steps for residents during the recovery process.

With water finally subsiding, south Louisiana residents affected by recent flooding must now begin to deal with the devastating damage left behind. As the cleanup and recovery process gets underway, 38-year veteran Home Expert, Danny Lipford, weighs-in with key advice for those affected.

Lipford suggests homeowners approach the recovery process by organizing needs into immediate, short-term and long-term categories. “Flooding events certainly take their toll on homes and homeowners,” he says. “It’s easy for people feel helpless and overwhelmed. Many just don’t know where to begin, so having a list, and starting with the basics, is always a good first step.”

First on Lipford’s immediate list is assessing the home’s electrical and home comfort systems. If floodwaters covered any electrical outlets, heating/cooling equipment or ductwork, those systems should not be used until they are checked out by a qualified professional. Other immediate steps include:

• Contacting insurance company. Take photos of all damage.
• Reducing home’s relative humidity level to under 50%. This begins the “drying out” process and can be accomplished using portable fans around the home, running ceiling fans and using dehumidifiers.
• Removing anything wet to the outside of the home. If water exceeded a couple of inches, drywall will need to be removed and discarded.

Once those items are covered, Lipford recommends tackling the short-term list:

• Cleaning. Homeowners should wipe down all walls and surfaces, including any exposed framing, with an antimicrobial solution. This is an important step to ward off mold and mildew which, if unchecked, can lead to health problems.
• Make a complete list of all damaged property/belongings and forward to insurance company.

And finally, Lipford advises homeowners to add these projects to their long-term to-do list:

• Remove debris and clean all gutters/downspouts. This will help prevent future water intrusion.
• Have sump pumps inspected for damage.
• Have the foundation inspected. Flooding can often cause erosion around a home’s foundation, so getting a professional to evaluate any damage is key.

Calgary, Canada, August 29, 2016 --(PR.com)-- One-of-a-kind live musical performances, intimate settings and music without distractions – that’s what Calgary’s listening room music series has become known for. Starting in September, events will be held at both Café Blanca and Red Bush Tea and Coffee Company, featuring live performances from talented local artists.

The listening room community is one where the audience shares a small space with local performers for an intimate show like no other. During the performance, disruptions are kept to a minimum – gurgling espresso machines, distracting chatter, or clanging cutlery – to highlight just the beautiful sounds of live music.

The Circle will be held at Café Blanca, one of Calgary’s newest coffee shops in the Eau Claire area. The unique singer/songwriter circle will see each local performer contributing to each other’s original songs in an organic collaboration. The performers will also be reinterpreting the works of influential songwriters like Bob Dylan. The Circle will be hosted by Frederick Tamagi.

The Classics will be held at Red Bush Tea and Coffee Company in Kensington on every third Wednesday of the month, except in December. The Classics will feature local jazz vocalists interpreting the works of Julie London, Sarah Vaughan, Johnny Hartman, and others. The singers will be backed by a talented all-star house band. Calgary vocalist and Listening Room creator Deanne Matley will be performing tunes inspired by Julie London at the first event.

Matley is thrilled that her concept is expanding. She noted, “Having a collective support my vision had been a dream of mine. The more listening rooms available, the more live music is supported on an intimate, listening level in Calgary.”

In addition to Tamagi and Matley, David Andrew Wiebe from The Music Entrepreneur is also part of the collective, helping out on the multimedia side of things: audio, video, and the website. He is also scheduled to perform at The Circle in September and October.

The first The Circle event will take place on September 7. Cover is $10, and the event will begin at 7 PM.

The first The Classics event is scheduled for September 21 at 7 PM. Single event community membership is $20.

VideoPropulsion® (OTC:VPTV) announces the addition of “CAMbrick", a high density Conditional Access Module (CAM) and smartcard array, into its line of digital television (DTV) headend components. The new CAMbrick consists of one to seven modules, each with four Common Interface (CI) slots, which can all be cabled to a single, short, low-profile PCIe interface. The modules are cleverly designed to fit in a standard, 3.5”, hot-swap hard disk drive (HDD) canister for convenient mounting in a server. Each SI slot allows for the insertion of CAM and smart card for decryption of PayTV services. With 8 decrypts per CAM/Smartcard, a total of 208 channels can be simultaneously descrambled using seven available HDD canisters “hidden” in the drive bay and a single x1 PCIe slot. A single port PCIe interface is also available for operating one CAMbrick. PCIe interfaces with more than seven ports are also planned.

“The CAMbrick is a great, high density tool for decrypting PayTV channels prior to transcoding and re-encrypting them in a head-end,” says Carl Pick, VideoPropulsion Chairman and CEO. “There are only so many slots and so much empty space to mount this sort of thing in even the largest commercial servers. Our new, innovative CAMbrick solves both the fan-out and mounting challenges for large CAM and smartcard requirements. The product name, in fact,” adds Pick, “ is a play on words of the term cambric, which refers to a a lightweight, closely woven linen fabric, and brick, which is what it looks like.”
